Codeschubse

code monkey see — code monkey do

Radio/TV technician aspiring to become a code monkey (German: Codeschubse). Generated income by making websites, –apps and –shops 20+ years ago. Used PHP/Laravel & Backpack. Encountered C and Python/Flask some time ago at HarvardX and also Java at an SAP internship. Will use other languages ungrudgingly. Looking for an apprenticeship or job in IT security or web/app development (remote or somewhere near Heidelberg, Germany). Prefer ethical work over high income.

Things I Can Do

Originally I'm an apprenticed and qualified radio and television technician and worked several years in a workshop as well as in retail as customer service employee and salesman. And I drove trucks for a living before I began retraining as programmer.
Because I don't like lotteries, I will not randomly learn new languages just in case somewhere out there might by chance be an employer who needs someone with that skill.
You tell me what knowledge and skill you need me to have and I will learn it.

  • Write all the code
  • Read books and documentations
  • Learn needed skills
  • Therapise my ADHD
  • Produce ideas
  • Find my place in a team

A Few Accomplishments

This website is not a video game but please consider it an early access version anyway. I will add content bit by bit, and who knows, maybe there even will be some dlc. ;)

Game on

Around the turn of the millennium I was an official of the Heidelberg Darts League. Since back then there was no software available to administer a darts league, everything was done with pen and paper. But programming was my hobby since I got several Commodore computers in the 80s, so the solution was obvious: I built the software myself in PHP and MySQL as a web app, complete with frontend, showing the matches, results and standigs of all matchdays, the teams and players, and a backend for the officials to register teams and players and their transfers and enter the results. The League is defunct for years now, hence I did not continue maintaining the software. Also back then there was no git or github, the code is buried somewhere on an old harddisk at the bottom of a moving carton in the attic, and thus cannot be presented anywhere as proof. My word will have to suffice.

I did me a Harvard

Yeah, the HarvardX course “CS50x Introduction in Computer Sciences” is an introduction only, I know. It's in the name. But if you don't think, that's an accomplishment worth mentioning, then I don't want to work for you.

Total eclipse of Java

For my internship at SAP I had to use Eclipse as IDE. I'd totally do it again, but I'd rather if you didn't make me. Also Java is the .gif among the programming languages. Is it yava or tshava?

Shopping list? One!

I have ADHD, so in order to not forget half the stuff when shopping I need several shopping lists — one for each shop. Or do I?
