the upper part of a painting mentioned further down, a brain has a chimney out of which a cloud emerges. In the cloud there is a Java script saying “Hello World!”

Internship

I had the attractive opportunity to complete a pupil internship at SAP SE which serendipitously wasn't restricted by an upper age limit. This is what my reference letter says, translated into english. The reference letter can be viewed as pdf file at the bottom of the page.

The subjects were

  • Software development in Java
  • Object oriented programming
  • Independent development of a client-server-app in Java
  • Overview of business software development at SAP
I enjoyed completing the assignments on my own after being briefed, being able to transfer my old knowledge from Python to Java and attain new knowledge in areas like object orientation, handling exceptions and server applications.
Where tutorials and sample solutions were deprecated or buggy, I found alternative solutions. I even carried out the mandatory switch from my used to IDE Codium to Eclipse without noteworthy distress. (I will require danger allowance if you make me use it again though.)

Reference letter (pdf)

For the most part the internship followed the Java course “Javaschublade” (in german language), which you will find visiting https://javaschubla.de/2007/java_als_erste_programmiersprache.html.
